A Socialist Defector: From Harvard to Karl-Marx-Allee

Monthly Review Press, New York 2019, ISBN 978-5836773-8-4

New Book 2019

My new book, “A Socialist Defector: From Harvard to Karl-Marx-Allee”, will be released in a few weeks. No autobiography (that was “Crossing the River”, 2003) it is a look back at 38 years of observing and being part of the rise and fall of an experiment in socialism, the German Democratic Republic, with my analyses, conclusions and application of the lessons I learned to today’s world. It is hopefully made readable by personal anecdotes and jokes.

I plan a book tour in the USA in the spring. Anyone in a group or organization wishing to hear me in person should contact me. The trip still permits new dates (if enough are interested to make a trip worthwhile).

2019-A-Socialist-Defector1

My new book, “A Socialist Defector: From Harvard to Karl-Marx-Allee” is now on sale – reflecting many of my experiences and ideas on past and present. I will be on book tour with it: in May in New York, Washington and Boston, in June in Los Angeles and San Francisco, then Chicago and the mid-West. Some book talk possibilities are still available: get in touch if interested.

2019-A-Socialist-Defector2

On Monday, April 22 I fly off to a USA book tour lasting until June 30. So no Berlin Bulletins for a few months but perhaps a chance to meet in person and, if desired, get a signed copy of my new book: A Socialist Defector: From Harvard to Karl-Marx-Allee (Monthly Express Press).

And here is the most recent list of my book talks; in some cases you must check on exact time, possible entrance fees, etc. A few other gigs might still be possible, especially in New York and Chicago.
